MILOfest 2010 – The Last Push
September 14, 2010
Okay, here goes the last MILOfest push for this year. Let’s see if I can make it a good one:
First Big Announcement – 2009 MILOfest Video Access
Last year’s participants are aware that the sessions were videotaped. I’ve been sitting on the videos largely because I recorded them on a tape-based system and it’s been a pain to bring into my computer. But, I’m done with the heavy lifting and I want to do something special with the videos. So, I’m going to give access to videos of last year’s sessions to all of the MILOfest attendees – this year and last. I’ll let you know at the conference how to access them (and by follow-up email to last year’s attendees that didn’t make it this year). But, the salient point is that you can have access to last year’s conference if you attend this year’s conference.
Second Big(ger) Announcement – CLE Accreditation for MILOfest
Thanks to very generous sponsorship by RocketMatter (who came up with the suggestion and offered to foot the bill), MILOfest is going to get CLE accreditation for 4-5 hours of time in the following states: Florida, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey and California. (NJ and CA receive immediate reciprocal accreditation because of the accreditation in the other states.)
Now, I hope you understand that the entire conference can’t be accredited because not all of the topics touch directly on CLE-worthy matters, but I’m hoping that this development encourages a few more of you to attend, especially if your state recognizes CLE accreditation from another jurisdiction. In addition, as with last year, every MILOfest attendee will receive a certificate of attendance for the entire conference, which may go further than the official accreditation in your state.
Third Not-So-Big Announcement – Housekeeping
Time is running out on the General Admission pricing. General Admission pricing expires on September 30th. Typically, lawyers are notoriously risk-averse – waiting for the last possible moment to commit to anything, but now’s the time to mark your MILOfest attendance in ink on your calendar. After September 30th, the price to attend goes up by $50. Save that money for some Disney swag, like a set of premium mouse ears.
In addition, the room reservation is about to expire on September 20th. We’ve already sold out of rooms for the 9th (2 days before the event) and given how well rooms are selling at the Coronado, I don’t expect that they will be willing to extend the room rate past the deadline. So, get your room reservation early. (As a reminder, you need to call 407.939.1020 and reference MILOfest or G0570377.)
Fourth Announcement – Giveaways
Last year, we were able to feature a ScanSnap s1500M as a giveaway, along with some free and discounted licenses for software. This year, we’re starting the giveaways with 2 BookBook iPad cases from Twelve South. These $70 cases are gorgeous, making the iPad look like an old book. Check out this link to learn more – http://twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook_ipad/
I’ll be working on more giveaways to make this a fun conference.
Fourth (and Final) Announcement – Shameless Promotion
This conference is INCREDIBLE. The reason has less to do with my skill in organizing it and everything to do with who decides to come to a conference like this. The people attending are simply outstanding – just the nicest, most generous and collegial bunch of lawyers I’ve ever seen gathered together. The topics cover areas that will absolutely put you at the top of your game when it comes to practicing in your specific field.
I’ll be posting some of the testimonials on the MILOfest site so you can see for yourself what last year was like. This will a wise investment on your part, paying dividends the rest of the year.
That’s it. I’ll bother you a couple of more times before the deadlines expire. But this will be my hardest push to get you to come to the conference.
Hope to see you there!
Victor
MILOfest’s First Testimonial – Kathleen Mahoney, Sorbet Aficianado
MILOfest ’09 was a resounding success. Don’t take my word for it, listen to what Kathleen Mahoney has to say. (Thanks and kudos to Gerry Oginski from the Lawyers’ Video Studio for recording, producing, and hosting this video.)
